To whom it may concern:

identity

A man once told me: “You know, you’d look much better with long hair.”

Another said, “Babe, cut more off!” With longing in his stare.

I cut more off, per his request, all 180 pounds of him.

And, truth be told – I’m better off, yes, & happier in my skin.

A pretty face, a friend to all, but seldom to herself

I now choose kindness – I choose grace – and strength all by myself.

And changing winds mean changing course

And your hold over me is over now.

I can’t help but wonder how you got it at all in the first place.

I guess I gave it to you. That’s how.

  1. I love that you are reclaiming the ability to make decisions about yourself.
No one except God can tell you what to do.
You are strong and beautiful and powerful- just the way you’re supposed to be.
Don’t listen to anyone who tells you differently.
